FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q1. What grit is the sharpening cloth equivalent to?
Since this is not a whetstone, it cannot be expressed in exact grit numbers.
However, based on the average particle size of the abrasive, it performs similarly to a super-fine finish of #8000 and above.
Q2. Can it fix heavily chipped or damaged blades?
If the blade has a large chip or has become severely uneven from long-term neglect, the EZ Care cloth alone cannot repair it.
Please use a diamond sharpener or whetstones for rough to medium sharpening first, then finish with the EZ Care cloth.
Q3. How durable is the sharpening cloth?
Because it is made of fabric, it does have a lifespan.
Even if the surface turns black from use, the abrasive is still embedded in the cloth,so it can be used as long as it is not torn.
Q4. Can I wash the cloth if it gets dirty?
No. Washing will cause the abrasive compound to wash out of the cloth, which will reduce or eliminate the sharpening effect.
Q5. What materials is the sharpening cloth made of?
It is made from cotton fabric, abrasive compounds, and wax, among other components.
